Just takes a few minutes

What do you do when you don't have a lot of time to create?  Maybe you just want to sit down and take a 5 minute breather with your crafty stuff?  This is what I do

My parents cooked a big lunch and we had some family and close friends come by to share it with us.  It was a nice time with the kids acting good and playing nicely and the adults talking at the dinner table.

After the family leaves, it's time for cleanup.   After that, I'm exhausted.  But I came in my room and sat at my craft desk.  I really didn't want to start anything new.   So I straightened up a few things.   I looked over at my scraps box and decided to stamp out a few sentiments.   So that's what I did.   Didn't take any time at all but I felt like I accomplished something.

I normally put them in some little baggies and label them as to what stamp set they came from and what color ink I used.   My memory isn't as good as it used to be.   But I decided that I would store them a little different now to be able to see them better.   I got some trading card pages and put one color for each page.   Then separated the sayings and labeled them on the back

Then I put them in my handy - dandy binder.

So you see you don't need oodles of time to get things accomplished.   A little something here and there adds up before you know it

Go do something creative!

Saying goodbye....

to my calendar project!  It is done and complete and a weight lifted off my shoulders!

Here is my November:

Very muted and understated.  Turned out well!

And, December:

This turned out well also - not blingy and showy.

Well, that's it for the calendars.  I'm sure you are tired of seeing of them.  I had a lot of fun making all of them.  This was my BIG project for the upcoming holidays.  Now it's cards.  Those are little more tricky for me.

Hope this has given you some ideas to use up some of your stash!

Have a creative day!

Something different for September calendar, not for October!

I have been foaming at the mouth to show you my September calendar.  I am a huge football fan so I thought that I would make September calendar football-themed.  If I had my choice it would either be purple and gold or black and gold but just did a general color scheme.

Here is September:

Loooove it!  The paper looks like a newspaper's sport page!

Here is October:

Can you believe my Halloween page isn't cluttered and full of bling?!

My calendars are coming to an end.  My next projects are to work on Christmas cards.  For some reason those are always hard for me.  I really don't know why.

Have a creative day!

Summer calendars - July and August

It hasn't been that bad of a summer, yet, here.  But we are still in July with the hottest month to come!

Here is my calendar for July and August.

I was able to use some old paper and embellishments here.  Love the way it turned out.  Just a little glitter from the cardstock under the calendar but not too flashy, in my opinion.

August is school themed as the kids here start back in early August!  Love the "chalkboard" paper used with the embellies!

If you are a football fan, I can't wait for you to see September's calendar!  Come back tomorrow!

Have a creative day!

May and June calendars

I've been a little under the weather for the last few days and skipped some posts.  So, here is May and June calendars from my last set.

All the rage on Pinterest is gray and yellow scheme and chevrons.  I had this in mind when making the May calendar.  Perfect for Mother's Day.

And, moustaches are all the rage for masculine projects.    I had some of that in mind too for Father's Day/June calendar.

These came out so cute!  I don't know how I'm going to part with them!

Come back tomorrow to check out July and August!

Have a creative day!

Over the edge with Christmas in July

Yep, it's that time.  Christmas in July is here and time to get started on those handmade cards and Christmas gifts/projects.

Here is one project I finished.  They are "non-traditional" Christmas cards with pinks, reds and greens

I'm submitting this card into two challenges.  The first is over at Squigglefly for their Squigglefly Challenge #26, SFC2614 Over the Edge.  Here is the criteria, "This week's challenge is called "Over the Edge."  Something on your card must extend over the edge of your card."  My Santa's head extends past the edge of the card.  That very cute image is "Unconventional Christmas Tree" by Mark Hicks for Squigglefly.

And the second challenge is at Your ScrapbookPlace.  This challenge is Christmas in July with a twist, "Your challenge is to make a Christmas card in non-traditional colors. Yip, no red, white and/or green as dominant colors."  Hopefully I have enough pinks in there to qualify!  We shall see!

I will be returning to the posting of the calendars tomorrow.

Have a creative day!

Spring has sprung!

March and April calendars are here - bright and cheery colors.

Working on these calendars I realized that this series of calendars would be great to use scraps and odd embellies.  Use up your stash!

March:

I went with the St. Patrick's theme for March.  I had some great paper to use and some bright embellies with just a touch of gold!

April:

April's theme is a touch of Easter and a touch of Spring.  The paper is from my fave paper manufacturer - Graphic 45.  Loooove it!

Easy peasy!  I just whizzed through this set because there wasn't a lot of thinking involved.  They are all designed the same.

See you tomorrow for May and June.

Have a creative day!

Calendars, calendars, calendars.

I'm pretty sure ya'll are tired of my calendars. I really enjoyed making them this year.  I guess I was looking at them of more of "therapy" than something "I had" to do.

This set was so much fun to make.  It used minimal paper and lots of different embellies.  Plus, I used some older paper!  That's always a plus.

These sets are also two pages each just like the others.  This is my last set of two.  I made 9 12-month calendars.  That is 216 6x6 pages.  That's the most I have ever made!

So here we go.  I'm going to do two months in each post.

January:

and February:

I just took pics of the first pages on this set.  All the months are designed the same - background paper with three coordinating paper strips and embellies around the side of the month.

I used up some old embellies that I've had for ages.  I decided to make January a winter theme instead of New Year's and the traditional Valentine's Day for February.  Thanks Linda Weber for the wonderful, handmade crochet flowers.  They are my fave!

Tomorrow will be March and April.

Have a creative day!

November and December Throwback

Ahh, the end of the year months for my Throwback calendars.  This will complete seven of my nine sets of calendars to make.  Each month on each calendar has two pages per month.  So far, I have made 168 6x6 pages!  The more amazing thing - I've used up some of my old stash!  Whoooo whooo!

Calendar made in 2011 on left and calendar made in 2014 on right.

November:

Both calendars have a straight edge and 2014 has a ribbon border.  Both are blinged (minimally) with pearls.  2011 has three stamped/colored embellies while 2014 has one stamped embellie and one large leaf.  I think the 2011 is just too busy.  My one word for 2011 is JAM-PACKED and for 2014, LESS.

December:

These both have a straight edge with a border - 2011 has a sticker and 2014 has ribbon. 2011 has stickers and stamped images with bling and 2014 has stamped image and pearl embellies.  I think the biggest difference is theme.  2011 is non-religious themed while 2014 is more religious related because of the Nativity stamp.   My one word for 2011 is BRIGHT and for 2014 is CLASSIC.

This has been a revealing experience to see how my tastes and abilities have evolved in three years.   Who knows, I may even try this next year with 2014 calendars.  I never know what I want to do until I catch the idea.

Tomorrow I will show you the "Simple" calendars I have made.  Yes, my last set!!!

Have a creative day!

September and October Throwback

Almost done showing ya'll the throwback calendars.   In some of the months, there isn't any major change and other months, the difference is obvious.

I love the fall colors you could use for September and, oh how I love the colors for Halloween.

Calendar made in 2011 on left and calendar made in 2014 on right.

September:

2011 has a ribbon border and 2014 has a glitter tape border.  2011 has cascading leaves with pearls and 2014 has leaves with bling swirls.  I used the same paper on each year.  Neither month has a stamped/colored image.  My one word for 2011 and 2014 is FLOWY.

October:

Minimal bling, large embellies and straight edges with a border (2011 border punch and 2014 ribbon border) connect these two together.  In 20111 the traditional orange, green, purple palette was used, while in 2014, more muted colors were used.  I added the close up of the embellie for the 2014 because the first pic is kind of dark.  My one word for 2011 is TRADITIONAL and my one word for 2014 is GOTHIC.

I can't believe I am just about done with my calendars for the holidays.  {Patting myself on the back, if I can reach!}.  I planned and gave myself a deadline for this project.  I'm not really a procrastinator but I like to know that it has to be done before a certain time.

Next post will bring the Throwback calendars to a close.

Hope you have a creative day!

July and August Throwback

Up next for my Throwback series of calendars, are July and August.  These are two of my favorite months to make.  I really don't know why.  Maybe it's the colors or themes?

2011 made calendar on the left and 2014 made on the right.

July:

Lots of similarities on this one - same paper, straight edge with rick rack border and stamped images as embellies.  Only comparable difference is that 2011 has lots of bling and 2014 has minimal bling.  My one word for 2011 is LOUD and for 2014 is MELLOW.

And here's August:

I really liked the 2011 version so I didn't change much.  I used the same paper, both have straight edges with a border, minimal bling, and a large image/embellie.  I forgot that I don't have Teacher Anya anymore.  I really wanted to use her on the 2014 calendar also, but I think the large fabric sticker works just as well.  My one word for both of these is CLEAN.

Next post is going to be for Sept and Oct.

Have a creative day!

May and June Throwback

I think the one thing I've learned so far is that in 2011 everything was more, more, more.  I guess I hated having any white space.  Today, I am embracing white space more.  I like the paper to show more than it being jam-packed with embellies.

2011 calendar on the left and 2014 calendar on the right.

May:

Almost looks the same, doesn't it?  Both have the same paper, use of punches, and pearls.  2011 has torn paper edge and 2014 has straight edge with lace trim border.  Not much of a difference.  My one word for 2011 is CLUTTERED and for 2014 is CLEANER.

June:

For both of these, I tried to keep the embellishments at a minimum to make it more masculine for a Father's Day theme.  Both have straight edge paper with border, ribbon and antique brads.  Only real difference is that 2011 has smaller stamped images and 2014 has one large stamped image.  My one word for both calendars are SIMPLE.

Hope you are enjoying seeing my then and now work.

Have a creative day!

March and April Throwback

I am getting into these "then and now" throwback calendars.  I can't believe that my style has changed quite a bit!

2011 calendar is on left and 2014 is on right.

March:

Whoa!  Big change at first glance!  Yep, you guessed it; 2011 is St Patrick's Day themed and 2014 is spring themed.  Similarities are they both have stamped/colored images and minimum bling.  Other than the themes, the other difference is 2011 has torn edges and 2014 has straight with ribbon border.  My one word for 2011 is SCATTERED and for 2014 is SUBDUED.

And moving on to April:

In April, both sets are Easter themed; but, 2011 has bunnies and 2014 is more religious.  Other differences are one has a larger colored image and other has a smaller stamped image, one has rhinestone swirl and the other has a few pearls, and 2011 has a torn border and 2014 has straight edge with border.  They both have the same paper and almost the same placement.  My one word for 2011 is FLASHY and for 2014 is RESTRAINED.

Looking at this on the computer, I think I should have used something other than the glitter tape on the 2014 calendar.  What's done is done.  Mental note made.

Up for tomorrow is May and June.

Hope you have a creative day!

Throwback - January and February

All over FaceBook, I see Throwback Thursdays.  That gave me an idea to make a set of calendars (two really) that are similar to a set of calendars that I made in 2011.  It's interesting to see how my style has changed in three years.

Some of the calendars even have the same paper.  I am a paper hoarder and still have some paper from 2006!  I am trying to use them up and, hopefully, have them on completed projects by the end of the year!  A girl can dream!

In the pics, the 2011 calendar is on the left and the new calendar is on the right.

January:

Not a huge difference but there are some subtle differences.  Both are inked, have bling and stamped images and has the same CTMH paper.  Jan 2011 has torn paper and Jan 2014 has a straight cut with a border.   My one word for 2011 is RANDOM and for 2014 is CLEANER.

February:

Same thing here.  Just some subtle differences.  Both are inked, has stamping on base, bling and stamped images as embellishments.  Only real difference is the 2011 has torn paper and 2014 has a straight cut with a border.  I didn't have any paper left from the 2011 so I used something similar.  My one word for 2011 is BUSY and for 2014 is CLASSY.

So, this is my next project.  Two sets of these "Throwback" calendars.

Check out the next post for Mar and Apr.

Hope you have a creative day!

Fall ya'll

And here are my fall months - October and November.  Well, here in southern Louisiana those are our fall months.  The leaves change color and everything!

Here they are:

I think I went a little overboard on the Halloween page!  What's done is done!  November's pages are one of my faves because I love the fall colors and leaves.  Don't know what it is with leaves?!?!?

That completes my generic calendar series.  Next post will start out with my throwback set of calendars.  After that, one set of two left then I can put calendars (my ginormous project) out of my mind!

Have a creative day!

Summer months....

We have had some unusually cooler air and drier air the last couple of days.  That can only mean the heat will be extreme in the near future.  But I am enjoying it while it's here!

Speaking of hot weather, here are the really summer months for my generic calendar set.

July, August and September are up next.  July's pages are attempt #2 at the month.  The first set I did, I just hated and tore them up!  I get so frustrated sometimes!  Love the way this attempt turned out.  In August's pages, I used the DIY enamel dots I made at the beginning of June.  Came together perfectly!

Here they are:

I had wanted to create a pennant banner for one of the months and it looks perfect with August!  It was a little tricky.  And, it was my first time using my Copics in a while.  I had to print out two sheets of images because of my shaking hands.

Next post will be October and November.  On to make a Throwback calendar.  It will look like a calendar I made a few years ago.  Should be easy enough.

Have a creative day!

Oh my! Christmas in July!

I'm going to jump around the "calendar" for this post.  I will be posting my December pages for the generic calendars I have made.

I know it's hard to put yourself in the Christmas frame of mind with temps in the 90's here and just last night was watching 4th of July fireworks in the front yard!

I am submitting my December/Christmas themed pages for the Christmas in July challenge at Your Scrapbook Place blog challenge.  There will be four winners for this challenge and all prizes are donated by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  Click on the link to check out her work!

Here are my December pages:

Tried to combine rustic/vintage with a little bling.  I'm happy with the results!

Good luck to all the participants of the challenge and thanks to Decosse's Dynamite Doodles for being a gracious sponsor!

Have a creative day!

Continuing

I know my 30 Challenge for doing something creative each day ended, but that has not stopped me.  Actually, I look forward to creating everyday now.  It's my therapy, my sanity, my "keeping-my-mind-off-things"....

I left off on the previous blog entry with my generic calendars for March.  As of today, I have finished April - December!  Three sets of each month.  Whooooo!!!!   Now I have completed 5 out of 9 calendars and it's early July!  I haven't been this far ahead in a long time!

I'm just going to post three months on this post.

Here is my April, May and June.

All three were made with some really old Close To My Heart paper.  This project helped to de-stash some of my inventory.

May has a flower theme for Mother's Day and June, I tried to stay simple for a Father's Day theme.

Hope you enjoy my calendars.  I am so happy to only have four sets left to make.

Have a creative day!
