This is the finished product.  Forgive me, my camera is not the best but below I have a closeup of the letters.  I love the way it turned out!

Items used:

Before I forget, here are the letters in pairs:

What's the story, morning glory?

Look at those great morning glories!  They are so fun and easy to color.  This great image is from Korin Sutherland at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps called Morning Glory Digital Stamp.  The sentiment reads, "All the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.  Numbers 4:21b" also by Korin Sutherland at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I think the two go great together.

J'adore Paris

J'adore Paris.... well not really.  I love this image but have no desire to actually go to Paris, or anywhere in France for that matter.  Kinda strange because I am Cajun and my ancestors came from France.  I am more of a Rome and Italy type person.  Oh, one day, if only in my dreams.....  This great image is from Squigglefly and when I saw it, just knew that I would have to buy it!!!  I love all of the vintage stuff in scrapbooking and cardmaking right now.

My camera does not capture the shading of the image well.  You can make out the red around the edges but you cannot see the Vintage Photo shading inside the image and around the edges to the red.  Its subtle so that the cardstock was not blinding white against the off white/ivory of the paper and trim.

This is for a challenge - Squigglelfy Challenge # SFC1112 - Use homemade flowers on your card.  My beautiful homemade flowers were hand crocheted (is that a word?) by my great friend, Linda Weber.  I have a whole drawer in my organizer with these little beauties in different colors.  I use them sparingly because I love them!  I thought they just added a little something to these cards.

Speaking of cards, when I do these challenges, most of the time I make more than one of the same card.  I ship cards to CARDS 4 OUR TROOPS at least once a month.  Between myself and the great ladies at ScrapbookPlace (yahoo group) we sent approximately 1800 cards, numerous puzzle books and personal hygeine products.  This is something near and dear to my heart.  I do not have anyone in my family at the moment in the service, but a long line of my relatives have given service to our country and this is how I honor them and to thank the current soldiers for their service.  My maternal grandfather served in Korea; my father, two uncles and a cousin in Vietnam and my brother in the first Iraq war.

Items used:
Labels Eight and Fleur de Lis Squares Nestibilities - Spellbinders
Fired Brick and Antique Linen Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Ranger
Lost & Found Union Square paper - My Mind's Eye

Happy Easter

Hambo Stamps says "Happy Easter" with BUNNY PARADE!  Ya know why I like Hambo's challenges so much?  Because they offer you free images for participating, they have great images AND great challenges!!!

This weeks challenge - Hoedown 58 -  "Using "Bunny Parade" (or any other Hambo image), make an EASEL CARD using the spring colors of lavender, yellow, pink, green and blue! Choose at least THREE of those colors for your card. (Bonus points if you use all five!).

Once again I am challenged to do something outside of my comfort zone - easel cards.  I messed up twice before I got the scoring just right!  I had the scoring lines written down for a 4.25 x 5.5 card but wanted to make a 6x6 card.  As usual, my brain over thinks things.  Finally, got the measurements right and wrote those in my trusty little notebook that I refer back to all the time.

In an effort to try in use up more of my stash of items, I printed up BAILEY HUGS from Hambo a bunch of times and colored this cutie the same for my challenge (see previous day's blog post) and the extra cards. Nature

"Adopt the pace of NATURE her secret is patience" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. What a great quote! Reminding you to slow down sometimes. This is Mushroom Umbrella by artist Betsy LePlatt available at Squigglefly . I added some iridescent medium on the wings to make them shimmer.

Just poppin' by

Just poppin' by to say hello! I love the look of layers on a card. I really can't explain why, I just do. This little cutie is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps (shop here) by artist Korin Sutherland. I kept this card a little simple; which wasn't easy for me. I think every artist, no matter what medium, needs to learn how to edit themselves. I've been trying that out, because if I didn't, every square inch of the card would be covered with embellishments!

This is for the Sweet 'n Sassy digi blog challenge - SNSDC44 - Blue, brown and yellow and
the Sweet Stop sketch challenge - SSS149 .

Items used:
Copics - B16 R20 E25 Y15
All cardstock and patterned paper (Dreamin') - CTMH
Yellow buttons - Button Ups
Chocolate Distressing Ink - CTMH
Double sided adhesive - unknown

I also made a second card with the same sketch with the alternative sentiment that came along with the image. Two cards with one image. Quick and easy.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wobbly dream

Ok, this challenge was really a challenge! Over at Squigglefly (http://squigglefly.blogspot.com/), the newest challenge (SFC0912) was to have an element in your creation wobble or move. When I saw that description, I thought, "How in the world?!?!?" But never fear, my great friends at ScrapbookPlace came to my rescue and found a link to home made "Action Wobbles." Let me tell you, I am not mechanically inclined at all, but this was easy to make. The wobble is under the fan and makes it look like a breeze is making it move when it wobbles!

I also tried something different with my coloring on this image. I used my CTMH ink pads and a CTMH blending pen. I didn't want it to be bright and bold, but subtle. I like the way it came out. Something out of my comfort zone for me.

Here's what I used:
Japanese Fan image by Chesney Young - Squigglefly.com
White Daisy/Black/Juniper/Sweet Leaf/Vineyard Berry cardstock - CTMH
Wings patterned paper - CTMH
Blending pen - CTMH
Grey Wool/Vineyard Berry/Sweet Leaf/Juniper Exclusive Inks - CTMH
Vineyard Berry grosgrain and organza ribbon - CTMH
Butterfly punch - Martha Stewart
"DREAM" chipboard - K&Co
Classy Red Pearls - Queen and Co.
Foam dots and double sided adhesive - unknown

Unfortunately I didn't get to meet my goal of posting a new project everyday for a week. Short by one day. Dad had sprained his foot and helped Mom to take him into the VA clinic to get it checked out. Luckily it was just a foot sprain.

I hope everyone is ok after the recent outbreak of tornadoes and storms.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

hey there sweet thang!

Doesn't this cupcake just look yummy? I started on this card in late January but was put in the hospital with migraines for four days. I had the migraine for 8 days. I had the image colored and matted and the paper pulled. So today, while I was cleaning my scraproom, I came across the guts of the card, and decided to put it together right quick. My intention was to use it for a Valentine's Day challenge but it can be used as any anyday card.

This one will be going in my box of cards for the troops. Hopefully it will bring a smile to some service man or service woman's loved one!

Here's what I used:
Cherry-topped Cupcake and Cupcake Sentiments digital stamps - Sweet N Sassy
White Daisy cardstock - CTMH
Red cardstock - Doodlebug
Red lips patterned paper - unknown

Day 6 is done! So far so good! I'm going to plan to work on Day 7 tonight as I am having a girl's morning with my mom. I need to get out of the house for a bit before I go crazy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Purrrrthday!

The challenge over at Sweet -N- Sassy (http://sweetnsassydigis.blogspot.com/2012/03/snsdc43-cats-and-dogs.html) this week is "CATS AND DOGS." Use a cat and/or dog image/element for your creation. I saw this little naughty kitty getting ready to wake up bigger kitty and knew that I have to use this image (Illustrated by Korin Sutherland). The camera really didn't show the gray shading well on the sleeping kitty and the grey shadow on the smaller kitty.

I'm also entering this card for the sketch challenge at The Sweet Shop (http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/2012/03/sss148-march3.html). I love doing sketch challenges because it takes away the placement process for me. I can agonize for hours on a card on placement of items. That's why sketches are so easy peasy!

Here's what I used:
White Daisy cardstock - CTMH
Red pearl cardstock - DCWV
Brown cardstock - Bazzill
Patterned paper, embellishments, lace - unknown
Copics - E00 E02 E07 Y00 YG95 YG97 YG99 W1 W3 W5
Foam dots and double sided adhesive - unknown

Yah! Day 5 is done! I didn't think I was going to be able to get it done because I was in clean mode this morning and tackled my scrap room and my husband's "room." But thanks to the trusty sketch, it's done!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

One image - three cards - three different sentiments

You may recognize the big guy on the right. He was my challenge card to the Hambo Hoedown in my previous blog entry. Well, when I printed him out, I printed three to a page. Usually, I try out colors on one but the first one I colored, I liked. So I colored all three and cut out all three. What's even better is that the image came with three different sentiments.

So as you can see, three cutie Monster Weights (www.hambostamps.com), three different sentiments. All made with the same papers, etc. Easy peasy!

Day 4, done! I actually fudged a little and made these on day 3 but I wanted to spend the day with my great husband on his only day off today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

What Are You WEIGHT-ing For?

My entry into the Hambo Hoedown 55 is the cutie "Monster Weights." He came with three phrases and I chose this one for some reason. I just liked it. The challenge was to use a sketch that Hambo provided. Check out Hambo's challenge blog (http://hambochallenges.blogspot.com/) and while you're there, check out their website for their stamps! They even have digi freebies! How cool!

I'm keeping on track so far of my week of posting new projects. Day 3 is done!

Here's what I used:
Daisy White cardstock - CTMH
Grandstand from County Fair collection - October Afternoon
other cardstock and embossing folders - unknown
Scalloped circles and Classic circles Nestibilities - Spellbinders

Spring Fever

Spring fever is in the air! The grass is growing and had to be cut for the first time since winter started. Not to mention the temps here. It was 84 here today! I hope that doesn't mean the summer is going to be a scorcher.

Over at Squigglefly the challenge for this week is "Spring is in the Air" with a extra task of having ribbon or fiber somewhere on your project. I love this image called "Dancing Pig" by Suzanne Urban at Squigglefly. This little cutie just looks so happy, dancing with some flower floating around her. Perfect for spring!

Leave me some love and I'll pick a random commenter to get some blog candy!

Here's what I used:
White Daisy cardstock and Liquid Glass - CTMH
Mustard Seed Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Crystal Ice Ice Stickles - Ranger
Mira Citrus Botanical Brenda Walton paper and "spring fever" die cut - K & Co
Harmony paper from Harmony collection and paper flowers - Prima Marketing

Did I hear my fave word as a challenge theme?

BLING!!! When I saw the challenge theme at Pike's Playground (http://dustinpike.blogspot.com/) I got as giddy as a little girl! I love this mischievious little guy sitting on a clover. My bling is the Stickles, the clover rhinestones, the fabric at the bottom has glitter and the gold fiber.

I was so proud because most of the items were from my St. Patrick's Day folder that I have had for probably a couple of years.

Here's what I used:
Image - Doodle Dragon
Gold/Green/Peeled Paint Stickles - Ranger
Copics - G000 G02 G05 G09 G24 G28 G29 E35 E37 E39 E09 E07 E00 E21 Y17 Y15 E40
Daisy White cardstock - CTMH
all other materials from stash - unknown

Now that I can get back to crafting, I'm going to try and post something everyday for the next week. Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
